You bought a reliable MicroBT Whatsminer counting on long-term operation, but hardware is hardware. And when your ASIC Whatsminer suddenly starts spewing errors, rebooting, or simply goes silent, the nerve-wracking stress begins, because every hour of downtime is lost money. At such a moment, you start frantically looking for a solution on the internet. And here you notice how differently people call these devices. In some chats, they discuss the “watsminer”, in others they look for firmware for the “vatzminer” or even “wotsminer”. No matter what you call your Whatsminer ASIC when speaking with colleagues, the common issues (or problems) are the same for the M50, M30S, M21, and all other models. 2320, 2350 — Check for proper grounding and voltage stability in the outlet (220V+). If the grid is fine — replace the power supply.

2010, 2030 — Reconnect or replace the 4-pin signal cable from the power supply to the control board. Update firmware. If that doesn’t help — replace the power supply.

206 — Turn off, reconnect all flat ribbon cables (data cables) of the hash boards on both the control board side and the hash boards themselves.

203, 202, 205 (Slot 0) / 207 (Slot 1) / 217 (Slot 2) — Problem with a specific board. Swap the ribbon cable with a working board. If the error remains on the same slot — the board requires repair. If it moved — replace the ribbon cable.

560 (Slot 0) / 561 (Slot 1) / 562 (Slot 2) — Hardware failure of the temperature sensor on the hash board. Board repair in a service center is required.

251 — Critical board error (often related to sensors). Reboot. If it doesn’t go away — hash board repair.

540, 541, 542 — Fan errors. Check if the blades are blocked. Check connectors on the board. Replace the faulty fan.

370 — Chip overheating. Blow dust out of the device, check that both fans are working at full power.

600 — High ambient temperature. Cool the room, ensure a flow of cold air for intake.

E013 — Network error. Check the LAN cable, pool settings (URL/Port), reboot the router.

Fans and Environment (Codes 1xx, 6xx)

This group collects errors regarding the physical cooling of the Whatsminer: fan operation, air temperature in the room, and fluid temperature (for Hydro).

140 Fan speed is too high The temperature sensor is lying (overestimating t°) or the room is critically hot (>40°C), causing the miner to ramp up RPM to max (7000+ rpm). Cool the room.
600 Environment temperature is high Temperature should be below 35°C. Cool the room.
610 If the ambient temperature is too high in high performance mode… For overclocking mode (High Mode), the temperature must be below 30°C.
620 Liquid cooling liquid temperature protection (Hydro) The outlet water is too hot. Increase flow rate or turn cooling tower fans to maximum.
652 The liquid temperature fluctuation is too large Unstable operation of the cooling system (pump surging?). Check liquid circulation.

Whatsminers are very sensitive to fan quality. If you install a non-original cooler with a current consumption of 2.7A instead of the required 6-7A, you will get error 120/121.

For errors 6xx: if the room is cool but the miner says “Environment temp high”, it means the intake temperature sensor (on the small button board or the control board) is faulty.

Power Supply Unit (PSU) — Main Errors (Codes 2xx)

The most extensive group. Includes problems with incoming voltage (outlet), internal PSU failures, and, most importantly, connection problems between the PSU and the Whatsminer (bad contact).

Errors 233, 234, 235, 236, 237, 238, 268 are the scourge of all Whatsminers. Do not rush to replace the power supply – in 95% of cases, the power supply is fine! The problem is that vibration loosens the bolts securing the PSU to the miner (copper bars). The contact heats up, resistance increases, and the PSU thinks it’s a short circuit. Cure: take a screwdriver and forcefully tighten all power bolts.

Error 200: Often this is not the death of the block, but the death of the small cable (4-pin or flat cable) that connects the PSU to the control board. Replace the cable.

Hash Boards, Chips, and Sensors (Codes 3xx, 4xx, 5xx)

Errors related to the main mining “hardware”: hash boards, individual chips, EEPROM memory, and temperature sensors on the boards.

Errors 30x, 41x, 53x are the “holy trinity” of ribbon cable (Flat cables) problems. Very often caused by vibration loosening the cable contacts. First action — re-plug or replace the ribbon cable.

BBB at the end of the code is the serial number of the chip on the board. This is very convenient: you know exactly which chip is overheating (54xBBB) or dead (56xBBB). For example, Error 521055 = on board #1, chip number 55 is calculating with errors.

X is the board number (0, 1, 2). Error 531 = board #1 (middle one) not found.

Control Board, Network, and Software (Codes 7xx, 8xx, 9xx, 2xxx)

Software errors, network settings, pool connections, and firmware versions.

Errors 2020-2022 and 714 are often caused by a bad patch cord (Ethernet cable), provider problems, or router overheating. Check the ping in the Whatsminer interface.

If you have error 810/820, it means you are trying to flash firmware for a “water” miner into an “air” one (or vice versa). Download the correct file from microbt.com.

Firmware: Most errors in this group (7xx, 8xx) are solved by updating the firmware from the official MicroBT website.

Security and File System (Codes 100xxx)

Critical software errors related to firmware file corruption, hacking attempts, or viruses.

If you see codes 100xxx, a regular update via the web interface will most likely not help or will give a “Signature Failed” error.

The only reliable solution is flashing via SD card (Burn Image). Download the image for the SD card, write it (using Etcher/Rufus), insert it into the powered-off miner, and turn it on. This completely reinstalls the system from scratch, removing any corruption and viruses.

Internal PSU Codes (Codes 0x…)

These are hexadecimal codes that can be seen in detailed logs (Kernel Log) or in PSU status. They specify the power problem.

Pay attention to codes 0x0040, 0x0100, 0x0200, 0x0400, 0x1000, 0x2000. In all cases, the official recommendation is — «Tighten screws of the copper bar again». This is not a unit failure, this is bad contact! Do not change the unit until you have tightened the bolts with all your strength.
